What injectable vitamin B complex is

The B vitamin group includes eight water-soluble vitamins: B1 (thiamine), B2 (riboflavin), B3 (niacin), B5 (pantothenic acid), B6 (pyridoxine), B7 (biotin), B9 (folate) and B12 (cobalamin). They have different roles, but work together in many metabolic processes, which is why they are often given in combination.

At Synerva, in Bucharest, the vitamin B complex is given intravenously, as a drip of about 30 minutes. In our catalogue the protocol is described as a “full spectrum of B vitamins”. You can ask for the exact composition of the preparation at the assessment, where the doctor also checks whether the protocol is suitable for you.

B vitamins are not stored in large amounts in the body — the notable exception is B12, kept in the liver. The surplus of most of them is excreted in urine, which is why a steady intake matters, not the largest possible dose.

Vitamin B1, B6, B12 injection — what you find in the pharmacy and what we do

When you search for “vitamin B1 B6 B12 injection”, the first results are usually the combined ampoules from the pharmacy. These contain the three vitamins in high doses, and some have added lidocaine, a local anaesthetic that makes the injection less painful. Precisely because of the lidocaine, such ampoules are intended exclusively for intramuscular, not intravenous, administration. They are medicines, used on a doctor's instructions.

What we give is something else: an intravenous drip with a vitamin B complex, given by medical staff, after an assessment, as part of a wellness routine. It does not replace a treatment prescribed by your doctor and we do not duplicate it — if you are already having vitamin B injections, tell us at the assessment.

If you only need vitamin B12, for example for a low level confirmed by blood tests, there is a separate, intramuscular option, at 150 RON — details on the page about injectable vitamin B12.

Intravenous or intramuscular injection — what is the difference

An intramuscular injection takes a few minutes: the substance is introduced into the muscle and passes gradually into the bloodstream. It is simple and quick, but some vitamin B injections are felt as painful at the injection site.

An intravenous drip delivers the vitamins diluted, slowly, directly into the bloodstream, under supervision, over about 30 minutes. The slow rate is not a whim: hypersensitivity reactions, although rare, are more likely with rapid intravenous administration. Neither route is “better” in general; the doctor chooses based on your goal and which vitamins are needed.

Who a B complex may be suitable for

B vitamin intake can be low in a few well-known situations: a strict vegan or vegetarian diet (especially for B12), regular alcohol consumption (which reduces B1 reserves in particular), older age, when B12 absorption declines, and long-term treatment with certain medicines, such as metformin or proton pump inhibitors, which can lower B12 levels.

The vitamin B drip is also chosen by people without a known deficiency, during demanding periods, as part of a self-care routine. Here we are direct: if your diet is varied and you have no deficiency, the effect of a drip may be subtle. Tiredness that has lasted for weeks deserves investigation — thyroid, full blood count, ferritin, sleep — before any drip.

How much injectable vitamin B complex costs — price in Bucharest

At Synerva, the vitamin B complex IV drip costs 300 RON, with the medical assessment included. The Complex B forte protocol, which combines the B complex with magnesium, taurine and L-carnitine, costs 650 RON, and the Complex B forte course — four Complex B forte drips — costs 2190 RON, compared with 2600 RON if you pay for them separately. For the B complex on its own we do not have a course at a package price.

For home visits, travel is added: 100 RON in Bucharest (free from 600 RON) and 150 RON in Ilfov (free from 900 RON). For a single B complex drip at home in Bucharest, the total is therefore 400 RON.

How a session works

1. The assessment

The doctor discusses your goal, diet, and the medicines and supplements you take, and checks for any contraindications. The assessment is included.

2. Placing the cannula

A cannula is placed in your forearm or the back of your hand. You only feel the needle prick, as with a blood test.

3. The drip

The vitamins run slowly, for about 30 minutes, with medical staff present throughout.

4. After the session

You return to your activities straight away. No recovery period is needed.

Contraindications and precautions for B vitamins

The drip is not given in the case of a known allergy to any of the components. Allergic reactions to injectable vitamin B1 are rare but can be severe, which is why administration is slow, in a setting with emergency equipment, coordinated by a specialist in anaesthesia and intensive care. Pregnancy and breastfeeding, severe kidney or liver failure and severe active infections are discussed at the assessment and may postpone administration.

Vitamin B6 has a safety limit that matters mainly in the long term: a high daily intake, for months on end, has been associated with sensory neuropathy — tingling and numbness in the hands and feet. The risk relates to supplements taken daily, not to a single session, but if you already take supplements containing B6, tell us, so the doctor has the full picture.

There is one more practical detail: B vitamins can temporarily alter the results of some blood tests and can delay the recognition of a real B12 deficiency. If you have blood tests for B12 or folate scheduled, have the sample taken before the drip. The precautions for all protocols are collected in the IV drip safety guide.

B complex, Complex B forte or B12 alone — how to choose

The B complex (300 RON, 30 minutes) is the simple option, focused on the B vitamins. Complex B forte (650 RON, 45 minutes) adds magnesium, taurine and L-carnitine and is chosen by those who want a broader protocol during demanding periods — we describe it on the page about the vitamin B complex IV drip. Intramuscular vitamin B12 (150 RON) makes sense when the problem is strictly B12.

You do not have to choose on your own: the doctor recommends the right option at the assessment. If you want to understand better how B vitamins work together with magnesium, we have written about it in vitamin B complex and magnesium.

What a vitamin B drip does not do

A B complex drip does not treat neuropathy, depression, chronic fatigue syndrome or other conditions, and does not replace the treatment recommended by your doctor. It does not guarantee more energy and does not make up for a lack of sleep or an unbalanced diet.

It is support for your B vitamin intake, given by medical staff, after an assessment. We have looked honestly at what vitamin drips can and cannot do in do vitamin drips actually work?.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a vitamin B complex IV drip cost in Bucharest?

300 RON at Synerva, with the medical assessment included. For home visits, travel is added: 100 RON in Bucharest and 150 RON in Ilfov, below the free-travel threshold (600 RON and 900 RON respectively).

Can I have the IV drip if my veins are hard to find?

Most of the time, yes — tell us from the start, when you book. It helps a lot to drink water in the hours before and not to arrive cold: in a hydrated, warm body the veins are easier to see and feel. The cannula is usually placed on the forearm or the back of the hand, by medical staff used to finding veins. If it cannot be placed comfortably and safely, we do not keep trying with repeated needle sticks, and we discuss the right option with you.

Which vitamins does the B complex contain?

Our catalogue describes the protocol as a full spectrum of B vitamins. You can ask for the exact composition of the preparation at the assessment, where the doctor also checks whether it is suitable for you.

Can vitamin B1, B6, B12 be given intravenously?

It depends on the preparation. Combined B1-B6-B12 ampoules that contain lidocaine are intended exclusively for intramuscular administration. We give a vitamin B complex intravenously, as a slow drip, after a medical assessment.

What is the difference between an intramuscular injection and a drip?

An intramuscular injection takes a few minutes and releases the substance gradually from the muscle. A drip delivers the vitamins slowly, directly into the bloodstream, over about 30 minutes, under supervision.

How often can I have the vitamin B drip?

The frequency is set at the assessment, based on your goal and, where useful, on blood tests. There is no one-size-fits-all recipe.

Does it have side effects?

It is generally well tolerated. Allergic reactions, especially to vitamin B1, are rare but can be serious, which is why administration is slow, by medical staff, with emergency equipment. If the preparation contains riboflavin (B2), your urine may turn bright yellow for a few hours, which has no medical significance.

Do I need blood tests beforehand?

Not always. The doctor decides at the assessment. If you already have blood tests for B12 or folate scheduled, have the sample taken before the drip, because the vitamins can temporarily alter the results.

Can it be given at home?

Yes, in Bucharest and Ilfov, after the same assessment. A nurse comes with everything that is needed.

Can I have the drip if I already take vitamin B supplements?

Tell us what you take, with the doses. Vitamin B6 taken daily in high doses, over the long term, has been associated with sensory neuropathy, and the doctor takes your total intake into account.
