Looking for a way to support your glutathione levels and liver function? Let's see, briefly and honestly, whether NAC is right for you.

Medically assessed protocol

Medical assessment before administration (included)
Under the supervision of an intensive care physician (anaesthesia & intensive care)
A personalised protocol, not a one-size-fits-all recipe
Equipped for emergencies

Benefits

A glutathione precursor

NAC gives the body the building material from which it makes glutathione itself, the main cellular antioxidant.

Antioxidant support

It helps restore glutathione reserves, part of the body's defence against oxidative stress.

Antioxidant support for the liver

Glutathione, which NAC helps the body produce, takes part in the liver's natural metabolic processes.

Honestly: mainly when levels are low

NAC helps restore glutathione mainly when reserves are low; in a healthy person, an additional antioxidant benefit has not been clinically proven.

Direct absorption

Given intravenously, NAC goes straight into the bloodstream, without the losses of oral absorption.

Safe administration

Always by licensed medical staff, with sterile materials, after an assessment and under the supervision of an intensive care physician.

IV drip or oral supplements — when each one fits

It is not “better or worse” — they have different roles. Here is the difference, stated fairly.

What NAC is and what it does in the body

NAC (N-acetylcysteine) is the stable form of the amino acid cysteine and a precursor of glutathione. The body uses NAC to produce glutathione, the antioxidant on which cellular defence against oxidative stress depends, as well as part of the liver's detoxification processes.

In short: NAC supports antioxidant intake by restoring glutathione reserves and contributes to the liver's natural metabolic processes. NAC is also a recognised mucolytic — but that is a use in respiratory conditions, by mouth or by inhalation, not the purpose of a wellness IV drip. NAC does not cure anything and does not replace treatment — it is antioxidant support given under medical supervision.

NAC or glutathione — what's the difference?

Glutathione gives you the antioxidant directly; NAC gives the body the material from which it makes glutathione itself. The two are complementary, and many people combine them for more complete support. At the medical assessment we tell you which option makes more sense for your goal — see also the glutathione IV drip.

Fluimucil, ACC and the NAC IV drip

Fluimucil and ACC are brand names for the same substance: acetylcysteine, that is, NAC. In Romanian pharmacies you will find them mainly as sachets, effervescent tablets or syrup, recommended as a mucolytic — they help thin bronchial secretions. There are also injectable forms, in ampoules, but those are for medical use, not for self-administration.

For a productive cough, the oral form from the pharmacy is the right one; it is cheap and does not need an IV drip. Our NAC IV drip does not treat respiratory conditions and does not replace a consultation. Its purpose is different: supplying cysteine for glutathione synthesis.

The route matters here. By mouth, a significant part of the acetylcysteine is lost on its first pass through the liver, before it reaches the bloodstream; intravenously, the dose set by the doctor arrives in full. We explain this in detail in NAC or glutathione — what's the difference.

NAC 600 mg vs 1200 mg — how to choose the dose

At Synerva you choose between NAC 600 mg (300 RON) and NAC Forte 1200 mg (420 RON), with the dose set together with the doctor during the assessment. The 600 mg option suits maintenance sessions, while NAC Forte 1200 mg provides a more concentrated intake, often chosen when the aim is more sustained support for the liver's natural processes and glutathione reserves.

For a complete antioxidant effect, NAC can be combined with glutathione in the Liver support protocol (450 RON): NAC provides the precursor, and glutathione is the ready-made antioxidant. The doctor recommends the right option after reviewing your goals and any contraindications.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a NAC IV drip cost?

300 RON for NAC 600 mg or 420 RON for NAC Forte 1200 mg. The price includes the medical consultation and monitoring.

Can I have the IV drip if my veins are hard to find?

Most of the time, yes — tell us from the start, when you book. It helps a lot to drink water in the hours before and not to arrive cold: in a hydrated, warm body the veins are easier to see and feel. The cannula is usually placed on the forearm or the back of the hand, by medical staff used to finding veins. If it cannot be placed comfortably and safely, we do not keep trying with repeated needle sticks, and we discuss the right option with you.

What does a NAC IV drip do?

NAC is a precursor of glutathione, the body's main antioxidant. It supports antioxidant defence by restoring glutathione reserves. It is not a curative treatment, but support given under medical supervision.

NAC or glutathione — which should I choose?

Glutathione gives you the antioxidant directly; NAC gives the body the material from which it makes glutathione itself. At the assessment, the doctor recommends the right option for you.

Can I have the NAC IV drip at home?

Yes, in Bucharest and Ilfov, after the medical assessment. A travel fee is added — 100 RON in Bucharest, 150 RON in Ilfov, free above a threshold.

Is it safe?

It is given slowly, under medical supervision (a licensed nurse, supervised by an intensive care physician), because allergic-type reactions can occur. The prior assessment determines whether NAC is suitable for you.

Is it the same as the NAC supplements from the pharmacy?

The substance is the same (N-acetylcysteine), but the route is different: the IV drip goes straight into the bloodstream, at a dose set by the doctor, in a medical setting with an assessment. Oral supplements are for daily intake, with variable absorption through digestion.

What is Fluimucil and what does it have to do with the NAC IV drip?

Fluimucil (like ACC) is a brand name for acetylcysteine, that is, NAC. In pharmacies it is sold mainly by mouth, as a mucolytic. The Synerva IV drip uses the same substance, but intravenously, at a dose of 600 or 1200 mg set by the doctor, to support glutathione reserves — not for a cough.

How many sessions are needed?

It depends on your goal and on the doctor's recommendation at the assessment — from a single session to a regular schedule. There is no one-size-fits-all plan; it is decided individually.
